AirVision SOS: instant aviation emergency alerts

AirVision’s SOS provides a quick and easy way to signal for immediate aircraft support, a visual approach to centrally manage response and a way to record the incident location and timing.

Designed to support, not replace, existing aviation emergency procedures, the SOS feature may also be used in situations where the pilot has identified a potential issue and needs to flag Ground Ops to keep a watch on them.

What is AirVision SOS?

AirVision SOS combines functionality within AirVision’s Tabula Live platform and a dash-mounted switch in the cockpit, to support a fast response to a pilot-initiated signal for assistance.

Pilots are able to trigger an alert easily via the cellular network, with reassurance that a response will be initiated. Operations can coordinate and visually track assistance to an identified aircraft and location, staying connected with the field via Tabula Live.

What does AirVision SOS do?

When an alert is signalled from the cockpit via the SOS switch, team contacts are automatically notified via sms and a real-time notification displays within AirVision’s Tabula Live platform. This triggers a process to enable operations to identify where the SOS has occurred, request support from the field and visually track the response effort. More detail is provided below in our step by step run through.

Getting started

AirVision SOS is available as a standard feature of all new AirVision systems supplied from August 5 onwards. Contact our team via the form below, or call into customer support  to get started with AirVision today.

Instant aviation emergency alert activation

AirVision SOS is activated from the moment the pilot signals support is required. When the dash-mounted switch is flicked to on, an SOS marker is dropped at the location. An alert is automatically sent through to Tabula Live and out to designated team contacts, letting them know that assistance is required.

Air incident assessment and response initiation

Tabula Live uses the SOS marker information for visual reference to locate the aircraft requiring assistance, determine who is nearby, and send out a request for support if needed.

Visual air incident response monitoring

Responders are guided directly to the SOS location. Aircraft and responders are visually monitored from within Tabula Live, enabling communication until the situation is resolved.
